Dawnpaw was eager to begin and hoped that her mentor would let her practice her fighting skills. "Can we PLEASE practice fighting first?" she asked sweetly. "Pretty, pretty please with Catmint on top?" She laughed and swished her tail. Then, she crouched to the ground, and purred.

Ivyshine, knowing that Dawnpaw had Badgerrain as a mentor, padded away from the apprentice with an extravagant swish of her brusky tail and ostentatious yawn. It was not of either jealousy or hate, it was simply to show off. Well, maybe a little bit of hate. The tortoiseshell she-cat hated other female cats, whatever their age or looks. She's too pretty to be around Badgerrain! she thought grudgingly, before taking a great leap over a log that blocked the section of SkyClan's entrance.
(all offenses roleplayed, she's such a weird she-cat XD)

(No offence taken!)
Dawnpaw saw that her metor did not respond and that Ivyshine ran away, "Is she jealous?' she wondered, then pushed that thought out of her mind. She wanted to learn to fight as soon as possible and prove to Badgerrain that she was going to be a great warrior.
(Can Dawnpaw have a crush on Badgerrain, and compete for him against ivyshine?)

BADGERRAIN deputy of Skyclan
( Im fine with it! :3 )
Badgerrain's cold amber orbs watched as the young apprentice as she crouched in a playful battle position. The sight made memories flash though his brain; of his old life as a rogue. The deputy couldn't help but be excited; for his clan and for the newest apprentice. Already she wanted to fight, to sacrifice herself for the good of Skycclan. " Of course, a warrior is the protector of the clan. Ever drop of blood we spill goes to fertilizing the forest to make our trees grow even talker. Battle Training should be the first thing every apprentice my learn "
Badgerrain's attention was taken by the soft fur of Ivyshine as she swished her tail. The multicolored tom watched for a few seconds, admiring the she-cat, before returning to his apprentice. " Battle Training- right. As Skyclan cats we attack from the trees. So for this lesson we shall be focusing on climbing trees and maneuvering through then without being spotted. "

dawnpaw listened eagerly and watched his amber eyes fade in and out of focus. "Climbing trees, and without being seen," she mumbled,"Sounds difficult!" She stared into his eyes and grinned feeling a sense of security and then quickly glanced away, embaressed.

BADGERRAIN deputy of Skyclan
The deputy flicked his tail at a near by tree. It's long branches were just beginning to be dappled with new leaves, promising new life into the bare forest. " To climb a tree " Badgerrain stated, taking a few steps towards to tree, " You must first start out with a strong grip". The multicolored tom sunk his curved claws into the tree, giving him a good strong grip. " Tree cans be very unpredictable some times, so you must always keep alert and if you hear even the smallest sound of a crack- you must instantly get down "
Badgerrain scaled up the tree, his body graceful as he did so. The male got to a low branch, and mad a long claw mark in it. " You will be climbing up to this branch " he said simply as he scaled up farther to another branch. " From there, you must try and conceal yourself. The male ducked farther in the tree; hiding in the shadows that the branches formed. From far away; his body looked like a shadow with sunlight dappling over it.

Dawnpaw nodded slowly and trotted to the bottom of the tree, she gripped her claws deep into the trunk and raced up the tree to the branch her mentor pointed out. then, she slunk into the shadows, from the ground you couldn't even see her! suddenly, there was a crack and she jumped from branch to brach until there was only the trunk and no branches and slid down it like a fire pole.

BADGERRAIN deputy of Skyclan
The multicolored tom purred delightfully at the success the apprentice had. Quickly he leaped down from his own branch, landing gently onto the grass covered grown. " Good job " he purred roughly as he flicked his tail over the female's ear. " Now do that again, but this time- when you get up high I want you to jumped down onto my shoulders. This is a move is a simple move that is a bases of all other tree-attacks" Badgerrain meowed, taking a place beneath the tree.
" For this attack you must stay as silent as possible, for it will only work as long as your enemy knows you aren't there. If your enemy does know, they can easily dodge out of the way and attack you while you are falling " Badgerrain instructed, " Make sure to land squarely on your opponent. Or it will be harder to balance and you may hurt yourself more then you hurt the enemy. "

[glow=yellow,2,300]Dawnpaw[/glow]nodded and climbed silently up the tree. She positioned herself on a branch at an agle, above Badgerrain. Then, she waited for a second, and jumped silently out of the tree, landing square on her mentor's back, her wait making his legs collapse from under him. Dawnpaw smiled and jumped off his back. BADGERRAIN deputy of Skyclan
Badgerrain let out a grunt as his legs buckled underneath him. Of course the tom knew it was coming, yet the attack still surprised him. The tom glanced up to find his apprentice smiling down at him, Dawnpaw's smile was contagious as it soon spread to Badgerrain's lips. " Good! " he purred as he got up, shaking dirt from his short fur. " You are a quick leaner, exactly what Skyclan need to succeed " the deputy said deeply, trying not to let his emotions shine through. " That attack can be added too as you become more familiar with it, you could claw your enemy as you come down, you could jump in front of the cat to startle it away while another warrior attacks from the back- the possibilities are endless! The other clan cats are far to stupid to realize how valuable the trees are " Badgerrain said as he examined the trees around him.
" Yet in battle, you won't always have the element of surprise; and even if you do- that might not always be enough " The tom took a fighting stance and flick his tail as a signal for Dawnpaw to mimic. " So the most important thing about close combat fighting is your stance. You must spread your legs apart, so you are stable- yet at the same time not allowing your underbelly to be to open for attack. I find about a shoulder length apart works well. Yet for a warrior with shorter or longer legs, they would have to adjust to find what fits them best. Now attack me! "

[glow=orange,2,300]Dawnpaw!![/glow]
Dawnpaw copied her mentor's stance and jumped over his head. She whipped around and snagged his back leg with her paw and pulled, causing him to fall to the ground, then, she lay on his back, her claws holding him to the ground.
"Was that good?" she asked in her silky voice, then added, "Are you okay?"

BADGERRAIN deputy of Skyclan
Badgerrain didn't answer his apprentice's question, instead he rolled over and used his back legs to kick at the soft underbelly of the she-cat in an attempt to knock her off of him. The deputy swiped his sheathed paws at Dawnpaw, hoping to land one that would knock her away if his kick out have failed. Then he would jump away and charge at her, ideally ramming her with his shoulder- sending her to the ground.
( ooc: I am sorry for my short post, I am having a really bad writers block Dx. Just a suggestion, instead of saying " causing him to fall to the ground " try saying " hoping to make him fall to the ground " or something like that. I don't mind it so much, but I know others may :3 this gives the cat being attach a chance to dodge out of the way. )

(ok)
Dawnpaw jumped away as Badgerrain pawed at her and stood her ground, she slid to the ground and sprung at him, using her head to try and knock his back legs out from under him. when she got clos though, she jumped up and landed in front of him. then she aimed for his front paws instead, hoping to knock them down.

BADGERRAIN deputy of Skyclan
Thinking that the apprentice was going for his back paws; the male twisted around to face the female, yet just as he did she jumped over her head. Badgerrain let out a frustrated hiss when his apprentice batted at his now back legs; yet jumped away before she could hit them under him. " Very good " he purred; flagging his tail to stop. " You are very good at battling; yet how are you in your hunting abilities? ". Badgerrain got down into a hunting crouch, expecting his apprentice to mimic what he was doing.
He flicked his tail and took a few steps forward, stalking an invisible game. " Make sure to keep down low, and keep you tail from moving. Your tail can cause noises; that will scare away the prey "

The sudden change shocked Dawnpaw. "Okay... can't be too hard..." she mewed trailing off into silence.
She went into her fighting stance. Noting that it was a bit to high off the ground for hunting. Dawnpaw fixed it by going into a crouch with her haunches low to the ground and her belly touching it. Slowly, but surely she stalked forward.
Grining she stalked forward some more. The air was suddenly filled with the scent of a pigeon. "Watch this." she mutteredto her mentor.
Dawnpaw stalked forward silently. The pigeon she was hunting oblivious of her existence. The late afternon sun shone on her back, the slight spring breeze stopped, and a light rain started. Even this did not stop her. Finally, she was in the right postion to pounce. She lowered down even further and sprung.
It was not a pretty sight. Dawnpaw wrestled it to the ground, the pigeonwas bigger than her! The bird had messed up her fur, and it's feather were stuck in her fur. With a wild look in her eyes she cracked the pigeon's spine. She picked up her fist kill and turned toward her mentor. As if a switch had been turned on a rainbow appeared over her head. She spoke then, ruining the moment with her mew. " How was that?"
