Powderfur woke up one morning in WindClan's camp. It felt cold around her and the air smelled clean and fresh. That could only mean one thing! It was snowing! Lovely little flakes of purity fell from the steely gray clouds. "Hey everyone! It's SNOWING!" she yowled loudly, her voice echoed the sleepy camp.

"Snow...gross!" growled a grouchy Lambspring. "Snow...yay!" yowled an excited Flickerpaw, before running out and rolling around in the soft powder. "Come join and play with me! We'll make prints and snowcats!"

"You just roll around and play." Flickerpaw chimed, leaping and dancing in the soft powdery snow.

"Hello." said Morningeyes shyly, advancing forward to the group of cats. Her paws tingled in the powdered coldness. It was beautiful though, with the snow blanketing the ground for miles and sparkling like billions of tiny stardusted diamonds. A stiff, brisk wind blew by. WindClan wasn't quite the place to be in the winter, with all the added windchill and open land. The sleek black she-cat purred, "Let's make a snowcat, all together!"

There was one thing that he disliked and that was snow, he had never been in it, being born only of recently, or at least recently enough to not have been alive during the times of snow but the stories that had often been told to him by his mother scared him. The snow was beautiful, as he pushed himself out of the den but was dangerous and it was cold, with the added wind that blew through their clan. He stared blankly ahead at the other cats, from what his mother had said, snow could kill you, eat you up, separate you from your loved ones, get rid of prey, and wish you were never alive.

"Come out and play, Dustpaw!" Powderfur yowled out in a friendly manner. She tossed up more snow into the frigid air. "You're missing out!"

"I'd rather not!" He mewed stubbornly, not moving out towards where the other cats were playing around. It wasn't that it didn't look fun but his mother's stories kept bouncing around his head, scaring him.

Morningeyes shook her pelt roughly, scattering more flakes of snow about. Then the sleek black she-cat trotted towards the apprentice, not wanting to make him feel alone. "Is there a reason you don't want to join the others?" she asked softly, with care in her friendly voice. "Snow is cold for only a while, but friendship lasts forever."

He looked towards the older warrior walking towards him, her sleek black coat being covered by small white snowflakes that drifted to and fro. Her voice was soft, friendly, calming, not the same as his mothers but in a way, just a little bit similar. He looked away for a few seconds before looking back, "I just don't like the snow." He muttered, though her words ran true it wasn't like he wasn't playing because he didn't want to make friends. He wasn't playing because he didn't want a memory of this to buzz in his brain in seasons to come if any of them did die because of the snow, the cold, or lack of prey because of the cold.

"Everything has it's ups and downs." Morningeyes replied softly, before seating herself beside the apprentice. "But the snow won't stay forever - I can already smell newleaf in the breeze. Nothing in life is easy, but hard work keeps us going." The liquid-black she-cat smiled at the pale tom and her voice dropped as she continued, "Your family wouldn't have wanted you to feel alone."

He quickly glanced at her, before looking away, his eyes looking at her just a little oddly. He hadn't said anything to make her say that, maybe she could read his mind! He almost laughed, that was impossible although the though was a little nerve wracking for some reason. He turned back towards Morningeyes after a few seconds, "I know they wouldn't have wanted me to. This gloominess will be gone by newleaf, I promise!" he mewed, his eyes twinkling just a little bit before he shivered, a small wind hitting him with the cold winter breeze.

Treepaw stared at the cold, soft ground. Stupid snow, stupid cats, STUPID EVERYTHING!! They're ALL traitors!! Nothing but mean, rough, GRUESOME cats in disguise. Treepaw knew what they really were. They would never take him alive! Soon he would rule and kill every cat in the forest if they disobeyed!
"YOU SHAL ALL DI-" Treepaw yowled suddenly then stopped short. He had to control himself. Treepaw stalked away into the bushes, his wings bouncing on his back uselessly. How unfair! He got wings, but they were useless!!
Treepaw stumbled into a corner. He drooled over the floor, planning on attacking Windstar when he had the chance and was strong enough. He'd pick them off one by one, until they are all dead.
"Yes, DEAD. ALL OF THEM!!! THEY WILL ALL DIEEEE!!! DIE!! DIE!!" Treepaw screamed instantly as his thought left his mind. He closed his jaws tight as almost every cat in the whole clan looked at him. They didn't want him to go to the gathering, but his mom had coaxed Windstar into letting him. He hoped he wouldn't go crazy at the gathering....

Mapleclaw grinned, appearing from the Warriors' Den. "Whadda little tyke!" the brown-and-white tom purred, taking Treepaw's outbursts for playfulness. His poor wings had always gotten in the apprentice's way, which was probably why Treepaw was so ill-mannered. "You'll make one good WindClan warrior, so strong and firey!"

Flickerpaw laughed, continuing to roll everywhere in the snow. She ignored Treepaw's outburst, being used to the fellow apprentice's unstable temper. Lambspring, however, knew this was a bad sign. Her blue eyes narrowed in suspicion.
